There seems to be several different ways to make homemade laundry detergent all over the internet. But do any of them really work? The answer is YES!!! In fact the recipe I am going to share is one even my skeptical mother likes. My mom is, or should I say was, the type that hated powdered laundry detergent and is wary of my furgal ways. So when she approves something I know it's a winner.
Here is the recipe:
- 1 cup Borax
- 1 cup Washing Soda
- 1 5.5 oz Bar Soap (grated)
Isn't this pretty?
Next, put the grated soap in a container and mix with the Borax and Washing Soda. It's just that easy!Use one to two tablespoons per load.
This was the first time I used Zote Soap because I could not find Fels-Naptha, but any soap will work. A quick note, washing soda is not the same as baking soda. All of these ingredients can be found in the laundry section of most stores.
Thank you for looking and please keep checking for updates. God Bless.

I bought some homemade washing soap at a homeschool convention two years ago and have never used it. I am finally going to going to give it a try. I think the recipe is similar to yours.
ReplyDeleteTimes are a bit tough around here and this is one way we can cut expenses. Thanks for the post. It serves as a reminder for me to get cracking.
